Development of Diploma of Logistics Training and Assessment Resources

This project, funded by the Department of Training and Workforce Development, Western Australia involved the development of a flexible work place delivery strategy, a resource kit and professional development workshops for registered training organisations to support the delivery of the Diploma of Logistics – TLI50107.

The aim of the initiative was to increase the uptake in this qualification by employers. It was expected that this would result in industry benefits that include: staff retention; increased capability within organisations; retention of skilled people within the Transport and Logistics sector; increased productivity through improved skills of supervisors and managers.

RTO benefits would include: access to meaningful projects that deliver tangible outcomes to employers; a flexible model enabling the employer to determine the training and assessment strategy; support for innovative delivery methods; an increase in the uptake of higher level vocational qualifications in WA.

The key outcome for this project was a kit of integrated training and assessment resources, for use by facilitators, participants, RTOs, industry and other stakeholders, which would reflect industry requirements.

The resources that have been produced encourage facilitators to reinforce the relevance of underpinning knowledge, skills and attitudes to actual workplace practices; and encourage learners to apply their learning on the job. The resources are flexible, easy to use and can be customised to meet specific client and industry needs.
